Hiking again!!

So Steve and I opted for a longer hike this week- the kids were in day camp and we had the whole day. We started at Freshwater Bay and ended up at Cape Spear. For those of you who do not know- it is a very difficult hike- I think harder than either one of us thought it would be.

In Freshwater Bay there is an old ship that burned in St John's Harbour in 1976- it has stained the rocks and the debris still lays all over it. It is nice in its own way- and I loved taking some pictures of the rusted out pieces of the ship....

The inlet of Freshwater Bay is very calm- Steve does not remember it being open much in his life- but this time there was a little stream from the bay to the ocean. It was beautiful!!

After several hours of hiking (the whole hike was about 5 1/2 hours- with stopping and lunch included in time. According the the trusty GPS we actually were moving for 3 1/2 hours- very steep and rough walking though....

This is the view when we FINALLY saw our destination. I do not think we would have survived if it were not for the plentiful blueberries...YUM
Now that Erin will be in full days for school this year, I wonder where we will find to go hiking this fall....the camera is jumping with excitement to see where we will land next!!!!
